There comes a time in every production where the roommates begin to unravel. This usually happens about three to four weeks into the experience. The attraction of being in front of the camera has faded because the coverage is relentless, and they are seen as they truly are – warts and all. The roommates realize they can't 'spin' who they are, and they can't always keep their emotions in check.
We as a production team are on high alert during this time because the roommates are more volatile, less cooperative, and ready to ditch the cameras. Typically, we are seeing more arguments and more frustration at living with seven strangers. The honeymoon is definitely over.
Joey's absence does not help; he was well liked by everyone and could calm down any situation just with his presence. It's like he was the Alpha Dog, and now the pack is searching for a new leader.
Brianna is the only roommate who has not been afraid to put her entire self out there – good and bad. This girl has no filters, and that's refreshing.
Once the roommates get past this phase of production, the real growth from this experience and the true bonding of friendship begins.
