It all happened so fast it's difficult to fully comprehend right now. Joey put the roommates (and the crew) through some terrifying moments when he got very drunk, and a completely different personality came out. He was out of control. Right now I think we are all relieved that Joey accepted the offer and will be getting help and education. I think he's wanted this for some time, and it shows a lot of courage on his part to agree to this.
We won't reveal where Joey is for obvious reasons, and the cameras will not be allowed. We do expect to hear from him over the phone from time to time, and the roommates will be allowed to visit him. What happens when he gets out? We don't expect him to return to the show and the Real World house, though that door will always be open to him.
It's a bit ironic that this happened on this season. We hear so many stories about Hollywood actors in rehab, maybe there's a reason for that. The type of personalities that are drawn to Hollywood; that sunny, party lifestyle coupled with the pressure of always looking your best. It's the same story. Our job is to document and tell this story as honestly as we can. For now, we can only wish Joey the best and support him.
