Supervising Producer Ken Chien and I went to visit Joey in the rehab facility. We wanted to see how he was doing.  For obvious reasons, we are not allowed to bring cameras into the facility.  We saw Joey's dormitory style room and bunk, walked the grounds, and enjoyed a barbecue with some of the other patients.

Joey looks and feels great!  He is smiling, positive, and thankful for the opportunity to be in rehab.  His recovery has been relatively easy because he did not have to go through a detox period he only drank a few times over the last five months.  What Joey is getting is an education, and answers to some of the problems that have troubled him throughout his life.  His dad died at the age of 37 due to a dependence on alcohol, and Joey says that for the first time he understands what happened.

Joey has really missed working out, so we brought him some free weights from the house for him to use.  Joey was pleased to report that one of his doctors is Dr. Drew Pinsky of the popular radio show "Loveline" (and later of the TV show "Celebrity Rehab").

The other roommates have requested to see Joey, so we are arranging a meeting in a private room where we can videotape them.

Ken and I told Joey that it was his decision if he wanted to return to the house.  He said that he was not sure what he was going to do.  He doesn't know if returning would be the healthiest choice for him.  He added that he really misses his roommates.  Whatever Joey decides, his room will be waiting for him.
