This week we have visitors at the house, and this always creates a very different dynamic. Will's close friend, Justin, is visiting from Detroit. They have a great relationship and are very entertaining together. Justin is great comic relief. He calls Will out on everything – something the roommates are hesitant to do.

But the really big visitor this week is Sarah's boyfriend, Ryan, who is going to stay in the house for three nights. It seems like we already know Ryan since Sarah spends a significant amount of time on the phone with him every day. Initially Ryan had some difficulty with Sarah being in the house – particularly with Will proclaiming his 'kindergarten crush' on her. Most long distance relationships in The Real World collapse; new attractions develop easily in this environment. This is not where you want to be if you plan on staying in a long term relationship. Odds are that relationship will end before you leave the house. So far, Sarah and Ryan have held it together.

Of course, we are all waiting to see what happens when Ryan meets Will. That should be an awkward situation. Ryan has told Sarah that he plans on talking to Will about his overtures to his girlfriend. I expect Will is going to stick with his out-of-town friend, Justin, as a way to avoid Ryan -- and any confrontations.

As producers we don't get too excited when out of town visitors come to the house because it isolates the roommates. They end up hanging with their friends and talking about what’s going on back home, rather than interacting with their roommates and discussing the issues of the house. Sometimes though, they will reveal to their friends how they really feel about each of the roommates and that is valuable information.
