ashley always sounds like shes losing her voice.

i can understand why it would have been hard for ashley to empathize with erica, just because of her own background. i do believe that she tried though. as i've said before, i believe that erica went out of her way to hurt ashley, constantly bringing up what she HAD, in direct opposition to what ashley did not. it would be natural for ashley to eventually pull herself away from such a situation, imho. besides that, i think that the roommates tried with erica, but she closed herself off from them so much they eventually just gave up. and maybe that is a little shallow of them, but i personally can't blame them; i'd have probably done the same thing.

Um, with ERICKA, everything was about HER HER HER...she's a classic NARCISSIST. Most people who want to be on reality TV are narcissists (self-absorbed and solipsistic) (Josh is an example), but Ericka is it, in EXTREMIS. She has a victim complex--everyone SHOWED empathy, they tried to let her know that being needy is not being independent. Ashley has a great head on her shoulders. And everything underneath that head is damn fine, too.

Ashley, you've certainly have got your ovaries tied up in a knot, if you think you showed any empathy or cared one iota about or for Erika Josh you were mostly a hermit, a fugly one @ that, throughout most of this season, so your spin on this process is superfluous. Callie is truly the only person who actively listened to what Erika had to say or not say. The rest, just were too much into their own little concerns to truly give a damn!
The very concept of The Real World programs have lost their insight along the way, as to why they were produced in the first place. They were originally set up to be a catalyst, to show folks a different prospective of folks from all walks of life in this country, living together and trying to come to terms with how different, but similar we all truly are. Some, especially this season, have forgotten their purpose for being there in the house, which is why the viewership has dwindled over the years. Sad, but true at this point in time...which is unfortunate :

why is how erika feels more important than how they feel? they've gone through months of talking to erika and trying to help her. she's GONE (finally!!). she feels fine now, right?

It's always about ME. ME! ME! ME! These people don't realize that it should have been about Erika and Erika's feelings. But they made it about their own feelings and how Erika made them feel. In some cases that may be fine, but not when you clearly want that person to stay with you. Psychology 101.
