Baya looked him so disappointed, but of course she ends up sleeping with him and dating him after the show. I hope his views changed more over the course of the season. They changed shift to the army stuff, so they did'nt really say in the reunion.

I don't agree with Ryan. I understand there are limits and I don't want clone food, but I'm not gonna use the bible as my main argument to things; I use what feels right inside me.

I feel for transgenders and I don't have a problem with them. It upset me a little when I was talking to a Jehovah's Witness and asked her pretty much the same thing Sarah asked Ryan. I asked her if it's okay to surgically fix a defect in a child, why does the church look down upon fixing the birth defect in a transgender. But she pointed out that (and this is HER opinion, do not attack me!) that there is a defect, but it's in their mind, not their body. There was a group of people in England I believe who hated their legs. Something was wrong with their minds that they begged doctors to amputate their legs because they couldn't stand them. It's similiar to a person hating their genitalia and wanting to change them. I still feel in my heart that the gender reassignment should be embraced by the church because it just makes me too sad to think that a person has an apple, they want an orange, and they just want to go to the supermarket and exchange it, and they could, but people believe it's against God's will. What I DO know is that it is not God's will for anyone to go through anything difficult or any defect or anything to make their lives miserable. Some people think that everything that occurs on this earth is God's will but that's not true.

and also nature and "god" made her have a female brain that's something you have to respect otherwise your just debasing the god your trying to speak for....are you a prophet or sumthin? If not let god do his own work and say his own words not your place to tell people what god wants....

And this is an example of why transgender doesn't work:

I'm 78 years old, but I feel young inside, I feel like a teen so... I want to be a teen and I want people to consider me a teen and I want the rights a teen has and I want my ID card to say I'm 15 years old, blah blah.

You CAN'T fix what nature or God made.

This post I am replying to is incredibly stupid. Oh my god is it ever so stupid.

My "scientific guess", if you haven't realized, is that you are in fact stupid.

I'm gay as well, so whats your point? Your already a sin in God's eyes to begin with. I've been going to church every Sunday since I was a kid and have never picked up on religion more than I have logic. As much as I hate the Bible and its religious brainwash, I retain the good teachings it had to offer such as helping others around you and being respectful. In addition, I also don't think that Katelynn's sexchange is a sin.

As a gay guy i agree with Ryan on this and i feel the same way about myself because in the bible its talks about homosexuality and I think if I am doing wrong in gods eyes, but on the other hand am I suppose to live the rest of my life uncomfortable?

    Alexxx,
All I am trying to say is that God's attitude toward mankind changes between the OT and the NT. It seems like a very human personality trait to be upset with people's slip ups, and then later learning that it is better to be merciful and patient.

As for the sins being the same now as they were back then, what about eating shrimp is sinful? How does that, as a sin, apply to us today?

how can anyone assume what someones DNA says? science doesn't even fully know how to read DNA and very few people acctually have there DNA mapped out... plus DNA is just a mapping of what the cells potential is.. lot's of other things can affect a persons complete biological makeup... lot's of women have androgen insensitivity which makes them have DNA of men and they are completely biologically female... so since they have male DNA does that mean It is wrong for them to live as women? of course not that's ridiculous...The currentlly most accepted thinking on why transsexuals exist is that during pregnancy hormones wash over the baby creating certain biological traits that they will have for the rest of there lives. such as brain gendering and to an extent even body (you ever heard of the finger length test?) so if a male baby gets more estrogen than testosterone then they will have a female gendered brain resulting in a TG baby.... the same thing can happen to girl babies as well.....It's also been hyothesised that this same hormone wash decides the sexuality of the baby as well and none of these things have anything to do with DNA.... so the DNA thing is completely ridiculous...and anyone saying Katelynn doesn't look like a woman is only saying that because they know she is TG and they want her to be a man so that's what they choose to see..

Also telling someone what gender they are based on a scienific guess(looking at genitals is an outdated practice with unreliable results and DNA is not a determining factor either. so all there really is to go on is what a person decides is right for them) I feel is very disrespectful to god... God decided to have her female brain born in a male body and that was his decision so I think yall should respect God's decision and remember that Katelynn is a woman...

and none of my opinion has anything to do with bieng a "mainstream liberal" hell im fairly conservative I usually vote republican... this is not a political stance it's a scientific and biological one.... the only thing political here is the repression of a minority... I don't care what your political leanings are.. unless you are socialist or communist you should believe that that's wrong

I understand what Ryan is saying. First of all he wasn't being an asshole and I think he was joking in the end about how it would be different if Katelynn was lame. I don't believe that he said he hated her, that he thought she was going to go to hell or anything like that. In fact, he didn't really say anything about people who gay which I think is really different from being transgender.

I think that gender is really made up by society anyways, guys can be feminine and girls can be masculine but it's true you can not completely 100% change your DNA. Being a guy or girl is not just about what physical genitalia you have. And honestly, I don't think Katelynn is there yet past the physical change. She admits it herself that she doesn't understand femininity completely. And to be honest she probably never will because I think that a lot of that is indeed attached to nature and humans can only go so far to change that. And I think Sarah's comparison was completely stupid because being born with a club foot or a cleft lip has nothing to do with gender or sexuality and everything to do with a physical deformation. If you believe you should have been born a girl like Katelynn does I don't think that "deformed" is really the right word because it is a lot more complicated than that.

Also, I don't understand why people can say hateful things about people like Ryan who have religious beliefs and somehow that is acceptable but yet it is not acceptable for that person to have that belief in the first place. How is it okay to make fun and put down people who believe in a higher being or religion but not okay for those people to state their beliefs that are contrary to the mainstream liberal thought? I don't see how it is any different. Religious people should not put down mainstream liberals and liberals should not put down religious people! How hard is it to accept that people can have different opinions without acting like we are all 5 year olds where it's black and white?

On a shallow side note I think that I saw a note of disappointment on Baya's face when Ryan informs her that he is religious. Clearly, she is not and I think that they are attracted to each other on some level. I don't remember exactly but I am almost positive that Ryan's email said that he was "going to continue to flirt with you as long as the cameras are not around" as to imply that on air they will cut their interaction down.

Sarah reminds me of a lot of people I know in a good way.

Up to date, like not eating pork or other kinds of food. Yeah, those food rules are one of the things that stands out the most as purely ridiculous and meant for the time in which they were made. It's ludicrous to apply most of the things to our world today.

As far as the contradictions, I could say that YOU are the one led to believe that they don't really occur. It seems clear to me that one such as yourself would be severely biased, and you can plainly see the contradictions by taking the phrases back to back. Even some of the numbers mentioned are downright wrong and contradictory. There is too much being said in all directions to not fold on itself at some point.

"God's law" isn't strict, it's just silly. It's fairly obvious to any sane person that the stuff was just written by deluded men, thousands of years ago. Hell, a lot of those "laws" are just telling you to not upset God or follow any other gods. Any religion could, and does have, this kind of crap.

Ryan is right about being what you are born as, and nothing can change you enough to have such a drastic outcome like change your gender. You wouldn't call some flaming 'mo a woman just because he dresses up as one and acts like a girl, unless it was pejorative. The body mods are again just masking reality, and some people don't want to play along with their mind games (although at least Ryan is willing to play nice).

I see Kat as just a deviant that didn't like its former self, and thought this route was something better. I may be off, but I predict it will just have a nervous breakdown after realizing this gender change thing doesn't do everything for its life and turn turds into rainbows. I think s/he'll just have to stay a sexual deviant to cope with life, because I doubt there will be that much of a meaningful relationship that is attainable.
