I see both sides here. I have questions for all. Abercrombiechic, if by using the word "ghetto" you are insulting others, could you not apologize for the hurt/insults, although it was not intentional? And to the rest of my brothers and sisters, if we would stop using the word "ghetto" and "Ni**er" to describe ourselves then maybe whites and others would not use those words to describe us. "We" perpetuate the use of these words as I hear blacks/african americans call each other that everyday. Bri said before that she was ghetto...For the record, what Bri was doing is not ghetto, it's called: having fun with your housemates. I dont like hearing people call someone ghetto either because it is a term that people use hand and hand with "black".

ok, abercrombiechic..."i'mma" school u real quick. by definition the word "ghetto" means any section of a city where many members of the same minority group live. and just to let u know the first people to ever live in ghettos were jews. but now the word is more associated with black people because that is mostly who occupies these areas. it's sad and it is hurtful because a person shouldn't be judged by where they live or the color of their skin. so if u really think that "ghetto" is just a term, then i suggest u stay where u are with the way u think cuz u wouldn't last a day in the hood.

it may just be some term to you but the context in which people use it and generally who they say it to is wrong and disrespectful...its less likely for a white person to be called ghetto because the term "ghetto" is more associated with black people and because of that, even when people say "stop acting ghetto", nine times out of ten they're thinking "stop acting black" whether they want to admit that or not...sadly "black" and "ghetto" have become interchangeable words...and that's why it's offensive...just because i'm black, when i get angry at someone and get pissed off enough to cuss at them, it does not mean i'm "ghetto"...i'm not a stereotypical "ghetto" black girl by any stretch of the imagination and i would hate to be labeled as such
