Right on dude, god bless and good luck. You and I marched the same streets. I got hit on 60th street in south Baghdad myself (Near FOB Falcon, right?) I saw you spent some time with PSYOP guys the last time you were there (The picture of the speaker truck), and I knew those boys. That army is a small world. My unit is out of Pittsburgh and I don't know if you plan on reading any of these responses, but if you want to know what 60th street was like in 2008 or what else is going on, look me up :)... more

Re: Kenny Very Very few people "sign up to kill people." I can't say that it doesn't happen, but the great majority of people who join the army are there for a litany of other goals. To get money for education, to get a sense of civil service, to rebuild places that need it in a more direct way than most other poverty assistance groups allow.... Sure there are the people who join from a desire to kill, but it's unfair and incorrect to make that a blanket generalization... more

Interestingly enough, the Nat. Guard has a fair number of benefits that the active duty army won't be giving Ryan. I wonder if, as part of this transfer to national guard, he will be given all of the benefits the they get when they go to PIT. The best way to get ahold of soldiers best is to find out what unit he is in and call up their administration people (just the number to their office on some base somewhere). If we knew his last name, we could use the army phone book (Army Knowledge Online, or AKO) to find him.... more

Just saw the new commercial for next weeks episode. Ryan gets called up for the IRR (Inactive Ready Reserves). I'm GUESSING, because he showed up in one of the after-parties, that he got out of it. I'll be watching on the edge of my seat about that one... (being military myself)... more

Four years ago, when Iraq was in full swing and the Troop Surge hadn't happened yet, sure, war was as ugly as this guy said it was. I JUST got back from Iraq, and in my time, I saw troops doing anything and everything they could to help the people of that country. And sure, we got blown up from time to time. Yet the truly evil people in this world did not stop the truly good people from turning on the generators, restoring water, and building the schools that every day provide a step forward for the chi...... more
